About

Dear Fellow Bankers,
Welcome to BFSI Strategy – a platform that was in the conception and development stage for many years, and finally launched in September 2026.  This website is based our team’s experiences in the BFSI sector over the last 26 years, starting from the year 2000.

Over the last 26 years, we have played the role of executives, consultants, trusted advisors, and investors in the BFSI sector. Our team members, including the founder (Shankar AVSB) have worked with a wide range of Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance companies, from Community Banks in U.S. Midwest to the GSIBs that are bigger and more complex than many governments in the world.

Three important points to remember:
======================================
1. Banking is based on Trust (of customers and stakeholders)
2. Banking is Risk Management as a Service (you’re paid to carry risk that others can’t carry)
3. Banking is Governance outsourced by the Governments (hence the strong Regulatory oversight)

The Boardroom Shield: Our Purpose and Philosophy

Our core value proposition is simple:

“Help fellow bankers grow their banking institution, without having to stand in front of a congressional committee later.”

The Ultimate Executive Liability:  In the modern financial landscape, the distance between an innovative operational decision and a high-stakes regulatory cross-examination has never been shorter. For C-suite executives, Chief Risk Officers, and Board Members of modern financial institutions, the true measure of leadership is no longer just about driving growth—it is about managing the hidden variables of catastrophic risk.

At BFSI Strategy, our core value proposition is singular, direct, and unyielding: We build the frameworks that help fellow bankers protect their institutions, preserve their reputations, and avoid ever having to stand in front of a congressional committee or regulatory enforcement panel due to systemic errors and omissions.

When advanced artificial intelligence architectures, fluid cybersecurity threats, and legacy banking systems collide, standard compliance check-boxes are no longer enough to protect you. We bridge the gap between aggressive institutional upside and absolute downside protection.

The Convergence of Three Spheres
BFSI Strategy was founded to solve an existential problem in executive consulting: the dangerous fragmentation of expertise.

When a bank adopts a complex AI model for credit underwriting or anti-money laundering (AML), the strategy is often siloed. Tech teams focus on algorithmic efficiency. Security teams focus on data perimeters. Compliance teams focus on historical checklists. Meanwhile, senior leadership is left holding the ultimate liability without a unified view of the risk matrix.

We eliminate that blind spot by bringing together three distinct operational spheres into a single, cohesive advisory engine:

(1) 25 Years of U.S. Banking and BFSI sector Experience: We understand the core plumbing of global, regional, and community banks—from capital adequacy and stress testing to strict Federal Reserve SR 11-7 and OCC mandates.  We regularly analyze banking business models on four key parameters: Revenue leakage, Margin leakage, CSAT leakage, and Trust leakage. Most banks can improve their financial performance by plugging these four leakages.

(2) Practical AI Foundation: AI is truly and permanently changing the nature and structure of the banking industry and the entire BFSI sector globally. As founders and builders of advanced AI platforms, we don’t just speak about technology conceptually. We understand data lineage, Population Stability Index (PSI) drift, and the exact mechanics required to enforce Explainable AI (XAI) under strict Fair Lending (ECOA/Regulation B) guidelines. We have been involved in AI for last 30 years since 1996.  Here’s an important book published recently by the founder of BFSI Strategy.

Beyond Human: The Journey into Artificial Intelligence (AI) (Ellumenex AI Series)

(3) Defensive Cybersecurity Precision: Cybersecurity is Risk Management with numbers attached to the biggest risks. Cybersecurity is technology risk plus operational risk plus human capital risk rolled into one. Therefore, we treat cybersecurity as a core pillar of corporate governance, ensuring your model endpoints, API gateways, and cloud data warehouses are immune to systemic compromise. For national banks, MNC banks, and the GSIBs, the adversaries may often be state sponsored actors with deep pockets and very competent teams and project leaders who have spent 1-2 years in due diliegence and reconaissance of your banking system landscape. There is a small probability that an adversary may already be in your banking system, waiting for an event as a trigger.

Protecting the Upside. Defending the Downside.

The role of a modern banking leader is to scale, innovate, and deploy capital efficiently. Our mission is to ensure you can pursue those goals and targets with absolute confidence.

Through our Banking Industry Guides, and BFSI Research Reports, we provide banking executives with an independent, adversarial validation of their risk posture. We translate federal regulatory expectations into actionable, deployable operational blueprints. And we bring our insights from AI and Cybersecurity experience in the BFSI sector.

We believe that strategic advice shouldn’t read like an academic paper or consulting deck. It must be precise, actionable, and it must serve as a boardroom shield.

By aligning your risk management and governance frameworks with our research and analysis at BFSI Strategy, you can ensure that your bank’s growth is built on a strong foundation — keeping your institution out of the negative headlines and keeping your executive team firmly in control of the future.

While we regularly publish Banking Executive Guides and BFSI Research Reports, we are also available for consultation for projects and programs related AI, Cybersecurity, Risk Management, and Governance. Wishing you success in all your efforts and initiatives. Thanks for your time.

Best Wishes,
